Time to say “Good Bye” -
Prisons aren’t normally known as places of entertainment, but for the thousands of children and adults who have entered through the doors of Stirling’s Old Town Jail since it opened as a visitor attraction in 1996, their time behind bars has been an intriguing and enjoyable journey back to the Victorian age, and they have left the building with a smile on their faces.
There have been stories told by prison warders, tricks performed by conjurers and magicians, and there have even been visitors dancing to the music of a barrel organ!
But now another chapter in the story of this remarkable building is coming to an end, and whilst plans are being discussed for the future of the building, Stirling’s Old Town Jail will not be opening again as a visitor attraction for the 2013 season.
To everyone who has visited the Old Town Jail - from families on holiday to schools on day trips, we’d like to say “Thank You” - we enjoyed seeing you in jail!
Surrounded by magnificent landscapes, and with a rich heritage - Stirling is one of the most rewarding destinations to visit in Scotland.
