Start your visit at the Gift and Souvenir Shop - just inside the outer gates to the jail, built so that escape was all but impossible.

Then join a fantastic live prison tour (available every day from April to October, and on Saturdays and Sundays from November to March), when you will meet the characters who bring this incredible building back to life. (At all other times an Audio Tour is available, in a choice of 5 languages.)

As you make your way through the sturdy inner gate and into the jail itself -

your voice echoes through the cold dark caverns, and you suddenly realise just how terrifying it must have been facing life as a prisoner, as just a number. Now your own adventure is just beginning…
